Shout out from former RTD theater critic, Roy Proctor

We received a really nice letter from former Richmond Times Dispatch theater critic, Roy Proctor, and would like to share it with our audience members. Here it

is:

Hey, guys!

I picked up on you in the Robyn

O’Neill e-mail that arrived a few minutes ago, got caught up in a flood of memories and looked up your Web site. I was awed at how you’ve developed Mystery Dinner Playhouse since that early time when we sat in the lobby of some Richmond hotel and chatted about your hopes and dreams for Richmond before you had opened anything here.

What staying power you have had!

What business savvy you had to muster to pull it levitra online pharmacy off!

Just wanted to extend my congratulations for a job well done.

Quite aside from the delight you’ve given countless patrons, you’ve done a lot to give Richmond actors more jingle in their jeans and to stabilize the Richmond theater community.

One memory particularly stands out. Almost 10 years ago, I flew back late one night from visiting my son in London, caught up on my sleep and started manning the phone mid-morning to develop fodder for the Richmond Rialto column. I called Jim first. You seemed amazed that I was on the phone. Wasn’t I watching TV? you asked. Well, no, I said, but I soon turned it on. The date was 9/11/01.

More power to both of you!

Roy

Letters from Richmond audiences

My two sisters and Mom were there last night at the Murder in the Court presentation. I realized this morning that although I filled out my name and address on the comment card, I failed to answer any of the questions. I just wanted you

to know that we had a GREAT time, all of the actors were quite good, and we would definitely do it again. Thank you and the cast for a lovely evening.”

Betty H.

“THEY DO IT ALL

At the Mystery Dinner Playhouse-Richmond, the performers immediately started serving the patrons between acts of the play. At first I thought that a bit demeaning, but then quickly changed my mind.

The actors and actresses didn’t seems to mind at all. In fact, they looked as

if they relished the close encounters with all the customers, and that made the meal even more enjoyable for everyone.

One of the actors who played Rob during the mystery play we attended sounded exactly like Jason Alexander (George on Seinfeld) all evening long.

He was very good at it, too, and after the show, I spoke to him for a few minutes and his natural voice was nothing at all like what we’d been hearing for a few hours during the performance.

That was pretty neat.

Letters from DC audiences

“I wish to say thank you. Our daughter visited us from Florida this past weekend. We made reservations at you Washington DC show. I was a little skeptical at first. However, I will tell you, we all had a great time. Your cast was delightful and v

ery friendly to everyone. They seem to make sure all tables were visited and

attempted top make conversation with everyone there. We were very pleased. I’m sure we will see you again! Thank you for a wonderful time!”

Tom H.

“Jim -

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

The event turned out to be a success. Everyone had a good time and Tracey [Production Manager] was really great. People have already expressed interest in having an event like this again in the future. We may try to do something again with your team during the spring or early summer. We’ll

be in touch.

We really appreciated the continuous back and forth communication and support you gave us in hosting a private event with a custom menu. This was truly a unique function for our group and well worth it! We’re so happy everyone’s hard work paid off!”

Sincerely, Monica and Raju S., Vegetarian Society of DC
